1,5-Dihydroxy hexamethyl trisiloxane - Upstream Downstream Industry
1,5-Dihydroxy hexamethyl trisiloxane - Introduction
1,1,3,3,5, 5-diol, also known as 1,1,3,3,5, 5-hexamethyltrisiloxy -1, 5-Diol, is an organosilicon compound.
Nature:
1,1,3,5, 5-diol is a colorless to slightly yellow liquid with low viscosity and low surface tension. It is soluble in most organic solvents and can also dissolve with water and many organic substances.
Use:
This compound has a variety of uses in the chemical industry. It can be used as a dispersant, a branching agent, a thickener, a surfactant, a rubber reinforcing agent, a gel, and a lubricant. In addition, it can also be used as a solvent and wetting agent, widely used in coatings, inks, adhesives, dyes, cosmetics, metal processing and plastics and other fields.
Method:
The preparation of 1,1,3,5, 5-diol is generally carried out by hydrosilylation reaction. Specifically, trichlorosilane is reacted with methylalkyllithium to obtain trimethylsilyl hydride, which is then alcoholated under alkaline conditions to obtain 1,1,3,3,5, 5-diol.
Safety Information:
1,1,3,5, 5-diol has low toxicity, but appropriate operating procedures should still be followed. When in use, should avoid inhalation, contact with skin and eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical help. In addition, the compound should be stored in a sealed container, away from fire and oxidizing agents.
